About

What's in a Name? Well, it turns out a lot is in a name. I am Paul; my son is affectionately called Fox. This vacation rental started as an idea. The idea was to create a legacy property that my son, my wife and I can build memories on and that will eventually be for him.

We understand that guests are looking for golf, a relaxing escape, family fun, mountain biking, or a trip to the beaches with outdoor adventure, and we're continually working to build an experience that appeals wonderfully to all.

We humbly invite you to be part of our legacy and stay with us!

This property is unique for a few reasons. First, it was homesteaded by one of the founding families in Bandon and Coos Bay, the Merchants. They lived on the property and ran a small dairy farm. We purchased the property from descendants of the original Merchant family and have lovingly renovated the main home, with more projects planned every winter. If you stay once we invite you to return so you will see some of those changes!

Secondly, this property is unique because it is our goal to start a small farm—some might call it a hobby farm. Included with that is a plan to build a second home on the property and continue managing this vacation rental as place where people can experience upscale coastal and country living.  Don't worry, there are over 130 acres, and you would never know there was a second home. We like the idea of space between us and our neighbors and we do not intend to change the luxury of spaciousness inside and out.

Thirdly, this property is unique because of who we are. I have owned rental properties since 2001, but wanted to do something different.  One of the principles that has guided us over the years is the ability and desire to do as much as we can ourselves. It started as a necessity on rentals that barely paid the mortgage, but needed work. Over the years, the cost and limited availability of skilled labor have made the skills we have acquired over our lifetimes increasingly important. While it certainly can be a source of stress, it creates something that would not be possible otherwise. While we can't take all the credit for the remodel, if you take a walk through this house you will see features like sapele window sills, a bathroom remodel and a kitchen remodel that would have been cost prohibitive if we had not learned many of these skills and done much of the work ourselves.
